What can I say? I love to run. I've run 4 full marathons and 6 halfs. But I love God more and I'm determined to run this race of life for Him to receive the ultimate prize of Heaven. I'd like to share my thoughts with you. You can agree or disagree. Comment or don't. You can read or not read. But it's here if you want it. Enjoy! .

Not One But Two!!! Registration Squared.

12:53PM

Got all bundled up this morning. Figured it'd be freezing when I went out for my 12 miler. 2 shirts, hat, gloves. Opened the front door. Didn't need it all. Now granted, it was cold, but it was mid to high 30's so the extras weren't necessary. But I wore them anyways. I don't like having cold hands while I run and I would've had to keep them inside my shirt for the first few miles.

Ok, exciting news!! I registered for not one, but two races this week. Two!! I'm so pumped.

I registered for one Thursday night. My wife and I went out for Valentine's Day. Melting Pot. Holy Cow - best restaurant ever! But I decided while we were being all Valentinesey and romantic that I would pop the question. No, not that one. But this one - "what would you think about me running Chicago in the fall, baby?" I had been waiting to ask her at just the right time, and I found it. I knew she wouldn't mind me doing something but I hesitated on Chicago because of the expense. So I was at least expecting a debate or some questions. But no. Her answer - "Sure, go for it." I love my wife. I even told her I would drive the 7 hours to save on a flight but she told me that was ridiculous and I was flying. Again - I love my wife. So you better believe I came right home from our "date" and registered. So I'm running Chicago in October. I am so excited. This is a dream race for sure. There are already 19,000 registered so I'm glad I went ahead and got mine in. I still have to figure out hotel and flight, but I'm good to go on the race. So I have my fall marathon. Another 2010 goal accomplished.

The 2nd race I registered for this week was a total surprise. Somehow on Friday, the family got to talking about running. I'm not sure how. Maybe we were talking about my 8 year old doing the kids marathon again this year. Nashville has a program where elementary kids run 26 miles - one mile at a time. They do their last mile the night before the Country Music Marathon and they do it downtown on the marathon course. My 8 year old did it last year and will do it again this year. But somehow we started talking about him doing something bigger. 3 miles straight. A 5K. My wife got really excited about it and started looking for a race. Before I knew it, she, my son, and myself were signed up for the Purity Daries Moosic City Dairy Dash 5K on April 10. It's also run here in downtown Nashville. We are really running it to pace our son and let him get a taste of his first real race. So I won't be running it for time, but I'm thrilled to have another 5K on the list.

So it's been an awesome week - running wise. I'm very excited about both these races. More info. to come for sure. I filled out my registration for the Huff 'N Puff 15K relay this morning so I think I'm good to go on that. That's my next race which is one month from yesterday. Hope everyone has a great week.

Keep runnin',
Albert

  1. Chicago - That is awesome! I think that I would like to run that race just for the atmosphere alone. Can't wait to hear how it goes for you!

You're going to have fun at the 5K with your wife and son!
